GARNER, NC: The American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors (ASCLD) announced the 2023 Forensic Research Committee (FRC) Outstanding Evaluation/Validation Award Recipient, Michelle Peck – Signature Science, Center for Advanced Genomics, Charlottesville, VA.
Ms. Leslie Parke, Signature Science’s Forensic DNA Laboratory Director, accepted the award on behalf of Ms. Peck. The award was presented during the Awards Ceremony at the conclusion of the 2023 ASCLD 50th Anniversary Symposium held in Austin, Texas. The project was titled: ForenSeq Kintelligence Kit, MiSeq FGx Sequencing, and Universal Analysis Software Internal Validation. The study was presented at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences 2022 Annual Scientific Conference in Seattle, WA on February 25, 2022, and published in Forensic Genomics, Volume 2, Number 4, 2022.

About the ASCLD Forensic Research Committee Outstanding Evaluation/Validation Award: The goal of the Forensic Research Committee Outstanding Evaluation/Validation Award is to recognize an outstanding evaluation/validation study that has been submitted to the FRC Validation and Evaluation Repository. The award is open to scientists from all disciplines (bio/DNA, drug chemistry, toxicology, fingerprints, questioned documents, trace/microscopy, firearms/toolmarks, other) in operational forensic labs or research laboratories.
