The ASCLD Leadership Academy is a training program offered by the American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors for managerial personnel in forensic science laboratories. It is designed to deliver training of the highest quality at a cost that recognizes the current strained budgets of labs across the US. The Academy is open to ASCLD members and non-members, alike. The mission of the ASCLD Leadership Academy is to train managers to become LEADERS.

Back for its eighth year, the ASCLD Leadership Academy will again offer a Level 1 course designed specifically for newly appointed supervisors and supervisors who have had little opportunity for previous formal management training and education. Due to travel restrictions related to COVID-19, the Winter/Spring 2021 Leadership Academy will conclude with virtual Capstone sessions in lieu of an in-person event.

Note – ASCLD plans to offer the Level 2 Academy in the Summer/Fall to align with the symposium in August. The Level II Academy will again focus on providing quality instruction to forensic science leaders who are responsible for entire forensic programs, multiple sections and teams, or an entire forensic laboratory. More information about Level 2 will be released in Spring 2021.

LEVEL 1 ACADEMY REGISTRATION
(2021 WINTER/SPRING SESSION)

REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN for both the Winter/Spring 2021 Level 1 ASCLD Leadership Academy. Twelve weekly, online webinars will be offered from January to March and will cover a wide range of essential leadership topics for forensic science supervisors and managers. Due to travel restrictions as a result of COVID-19, the Academy will finish with 4 virtual Capstone sessions.

The 2021 Level 1 Academy will again focus on providing quality instruction to new supervisors in the forensic science field and supervisors who have previously had limited opportunity for structured forensic management education and training. Between affordable registration costs and high quality instructors, ASCLD is confident that laboratories will see a valuable return on investment in a time when training budgets are lean across the US.
