General AnnouncementsHi All: ASCLD is participating in the development of a Standard for consumables used in the collection and analysis of DNA evidence. A committee comprised of representatives from five international organizations (ENFSI, ANZPAA, ASCLD, AICF, AFSN) held its first meeting in spring of 2011 under the leadership of the National Institute of Forensic Science (NIFS) Australia. This Standard is designed to provide specification for the manufacture of products used in forensic analysis in order to minimize human DNA contamination of the products produced. A first draft was completed by the committee September 2011 and has been submitted to Standards Australia. This Specification Standard is being simultaneously developed as an Australian Standard and being proposed to a full ISO Standard.
