General Announcements

Dear Members,

During the last ASCLD Symposium we discussed plans for upcoming advocacy activities.

One of the organizations that we chose to partner with to address issues impacting the forensic sciences is the National Association of Prosecutor Coordinators (NACP). The NACP President, Randy Hillman, took the time to attend our Symposium, network with Directors and offer his insight on the progress towards addressing the NAS recommendations. The NACP is providing us a platform to move forward with our tour speaking engagements that focus on informing judges and other officers of the court about ASCLD and our views on the Forensic Sciences.

Board member Kermit Channel confirmed late last week that ASCLD will be provided a one hour block from 9:15 to 10:15 cst to speak at the NACP annual national conference in Little Rock on December 8th. Our ASCLD tour speaker, John Collins, will provide the presentation on our behalf. If you have input or would like to speak with John about this important engagement, he can be contacted at crimelabreport@gmail.com.

I’m sure you all will agree that this is a great networking opportunity and will generate a number of training requests around the nation. Please take note of the advocacy point of contact for your region (http://ascld.org/content/advocacy-council) and if you are willing to assist us with training efforts or tour speaking, please make contact with your POC and let them know you are willing to help inform our stakeholders of our mission and garner support for our critical advocacy efforts.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Beth Greene
